During my promotional adventure in India, a live session for the Spicy Sitar vlog took a turn for the weird. Watch me get video-bombed by local fishermen and Indian tourists as I sing by an ancient, beach-side temple in Mahabalipuram. You just gotta' love India! =D
After 3 months of incredibly hard work and many sleepless nights... I'm extremely pleased to announce that our Karmashop campaign was a remarkable success... and that the 1st crowdfunded album in Mexican history is well under way!
I made this video specifically for those of you who believed... those of you who stood up for me and helped me reach this enormous goal:
You've touched my life these last months... you really have. I could never thank you enough;
but I promise to work my ass off and make you proud to be a part of this dream. Believe it!
If you missed out on the campaign, have no fear! You can still support me by joining my current mission or making a contribution in exchange for music. =)
Here's a short video compiled from crowd-footage to thank you for joining me on September 5, 2013 at Club Privat in Monterrey, Mexico. The Songs of M was the official launch party for my Karmashop campaign (intended to raise funds for the making of my debut album, "M").
It was a blast to play live with some good friends from up-and-coming Monterrey bands.
Thanks for showing up despite the horrible weather! <3
A few weeks ago, half of the band and I went over "Maggie & Me," in preparation for The Songs of M in Monterrey. 3 more musicians have joined us since then, and the sound next Thursday is gonna' be amazing!
NOTE: The bass is really the heart of this song, so please use good speakers / headphones if you've got 'em! :) See you at the show!
Oh, happy day!!!
I bring good news, people.
So... a few weeks ago, I asked for your support in raising money to buy the rights to distribute Missing (Live @ El Tiger Sessions). Read the original blog post here.
A few days after that, I announced that Viacom (MTV, VH1, CMT) and Monster DNA Headphones were matching all donations made on my MTV artist profile, as part of a musical-independence-themed 4th of july campaign (read more about it here).
Last week, it gave me great joy to announce that I got my hands on MTV's money, thanks to you!
And finally, today, I am Whoopi-Goldberg-glad to announce that... WE DID IT!!!
We've officially come up with the money to pay for Missing (Live @ El Tiger Sessions) and make it part of my debut album, M. The song is now free to download here.
I want to give thanks to everyone who made this possible... here's a list of the generous and good looking peeps who ponied up toward setting this track free:
Domingo Guerra, Paulina Guerra, Andrés Farías, Luis Rodela, Tom Tabouring,
Kelli Strawbridge, Viacom (MTV, VH1, CMT) & Monster DNA Headphones.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!
I can't tell you how much this means to me... so I'll let this lot give it a try.
Oh, happy day! =D
By the way, if you still don't have tickets for The Songs of M (a live, intimate show in Monterrey with music from M), make sure to do so here.
Hey friends! If any of you are in or around Monterrey, Mexico in early September, be sure to join us for a live show called The Songs of M. An intimate affair showcasing some of the best music from my debut album, M... this isn't one to miss!
The show will take place at the very comfortable Club Privatt, on Thursday, September 5.
Get your FREE tickets here!
Here's a taste of what you can expect... Missing (Live @ El Tiger Sessions).
Also, check out some more songs from M and stay tuned for new music I may release before then!
MTV matched every dollar donated to my account on the 4th of July (campaign details here), which puts us at just under $20 dollars from buying the rights to Missing (Live @ El Tiger Sessions) and releasing it for free as part of M.
Thanks to each and every one involved for your support.
Hey, even this fridge is happy!!! :D
As part of their 4th of July "Musical Independence" campaign, MTV and Viacom partners / sponsors VH1, CMT & Monster DNA Headphones will be doubling all tips paid to MTV's online artists... including yours truly.
What a great chance to make a donation with twice the impact... or... just pay half of what you actually wanted to donate. ;)
The fine print is:
- Artists get 90% of tips, minus 5% transaction costs;
- Up to $100 dollars out of every tip can be matched;
- Only one tip per fan / user can be matched;
- Up to $500 dollars can be matched per artist;
- Only $100,000 dollars in total can be matched, which means we better hurry up!
As always, thanks for your support (and tips)!

I GOT MY HANDS ON MTV'S MONEY, THANKS TO YOU!
As some of you know, I've been busy working on my debut album, M. Although I (rather arbitrarily) decided it should be scheduled for release in December, this has more to do with my aspirations of end-of-year closure than any formal planning... and may or may not be realistic at all. Sigh!
However, being the generous and wildly impatient soul that I am, I've also decided to make each and every song on the album available - for free - as soon as it's ready. I'm pleased to announce that both Maybe and Mr. Magic Man have slipped into something more comfortable and are anxiously waiting for you here (go get 'em, tiger)!
I'd also like to make the audio from Missing (Live @ El Tiger Sessions) available as a 3rd free download. Unfortunately, this was not a record produced by moi and doesn't officially belong to me... yet. Good news is: the fine folks at El Tiger Sessions have agreed to give me full rights to the sound recorded that day for a modest recovery fee of around $160 dollars.
And so begin our adventures in crowdfunding!
If you appreciate this song (or my music in general) enough to actually pony up toward helping me release it, please donate a voluntary amount by doing one of the following:
1. Clicking on the golden "Donate" button on the sidebar to the right.
2. Making a direct payment to firstname.lastname@example.org via Paypal.
3. Following the instructions to download M and naming a price greater than $0.
NOTE: this one is run by Bandcamp, who take 15% of sales before paying me on Paypal.
4. Putting some money directly into my bank account, left hand, or back pocket
(why... yes... you may!) for a whopping, 100% effective contribution. =)
Any friends who donate over $30 USD will be specifically credited on my Music, Bandcamp,
and Soundcloud profiles as the generous souls who made this track available to the world!
As soon as we make enough to pay for Missing (Live @ El Tiger Sessions), I'll add it to M for all to hear & download. Excess funds will be used to make more music & give it away too.
IF YOU'RE EVEN CONSIDERING TAKING PART IN THIS, THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
This is the kind of support I most value, as it translates directly to me as "good job with your music, keep it coming," which is exactly the response one would dream of having.
Remember, sharing means caring... so please feel free to pass my music and links along to anyone who might enjoy them. =)
We made it! Your generosity has officially put us over the mark: the sound from
Missing (Live @ El Tiger Sessions) is now a part of M and available to download!

What better way to start the week than with this intimate version of Missing, live from El Tiger Sessions? With me that day were guest musicians (and dear friends) from up-and-coming Monterrey bands like Elevador, Mijo, Nuup, and Villardos who made this track a blast to record.
Watch how well these guys performed together, despite never having been in the same room before this session... the vibe was pretty awesome and I do feel the production team succeeded in capturing it.
Needless to say, I'm quite pleased with the results. There's no virtuosity here... sound engineer Eric Dabdoub (Bofo Recordings), had to choose his way around quite a few takes... but there's an honest-to-God passion for music shared by each of the 17 people involved that makes this a session I'll not soon forget.
I hope you enjoy Missing every bit as much as we did.
If you've ever lost someone, as I had when I wrote the song, I'm sure you can relate.
"Doors get closed. Things go wrong.
And lives had no choice but to go on... since you've gone missing."
This blue rendition of a sad song was directed by Ruben G (Novvva Films), with footage shot by him, Melissa Maiz (MG Castillito Films), and Carlos G. Davila (Reverie Workshop). Special thanks to Bladinieres (Elevador) for his musical direction, Constanza Treviño for her image consultancy, and Eugenia Rodriguez for her art advice.
El Tiger Sessions:
Located in the picturesque neighborhood of Tampiquito, El Tiger is a rehearsal space run by the sexy guys from the band Husky. Enter the El Tiger Sessions production team, a hard-working and good-looking bunch if ever I saw one, and the stage is set for something like this to occur.
Do check out the other El Tiger Sessions. There's new videos coming out all the time and some of the featured artists are truly amazing.
We did it! Your generosity has enabled me to make Missing (Live @ El Tiger Sessions) part of M and available to download! Read the celebration post here!
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the campaign to buy the rights for this recording!
