During my promotional adventure in India, a live session for the Spicy Sitar vlog took a turn for the weird. Watch me get video-bombed by local fishermen and Indian tourists as I sing by an ancient, beach-side temple in Mahabalipuram. You just gotta' love India! =D
After 3 months of incredibly hard work and many sleepless nights... I'm extremely pleased to announce that our Karmashop campaign was a remarkable success... and that the 1st crowdfunded album in Mexican history is well under way!
I made this video specifically for those of you who believed... those of you who stood up for me and helped me reach this enormous goal:
You've touched my life these last months... you really have. I could never thank you enough;
but I promise to work my ass off and make you proud to be a part of this dream. Believe it!
If you missed out on the campaign, have no fear! You can still support me by joining my current mission or making a contribution in exchange for music. =)
Here's a short video compiled from crowd-footage to thank you for joining me on September 5, 2013 at Club Privat in Monterrey, Mexico. The Songs of M was the official launch party for my Karmashop campaign (intended to raise funds for the making of my debut album, "M").
It was a blast to play live with some good friends from up-and-coming Monterrey bands.
Thanks for showing up despite the horrible weather! <3
What better way to start the week than with this intimate version of Missing, live from El Tiger Sessions? With me that day were guest musicians (and dear friends) from up-and-coming Monterrey bands like Elevador, Mijo, Nuup, and Villardos who made this track a blast to record.
Watch how well these guys performed together, despite never having been in the same room before this session... the vibe was pretty awesome and I do feel the production team succeeded in capturing it.
Needless to say, I'm quite pleased with the results. There's no virtuosity here... sound engineer Eric Dabdoub (Bofo Recordings), had to choose his way around quite a few takes... but there's an honest-to-God passion for music shared by each of the 17 people involved that makes this a session I'll not soon forget.
I hope you enjoy Missing every bit as much as we did.
If you've ever lost someone, as I had when I wrote the song, I'm sure you can relate.
"Doors get closed. Things go wrong.
And lives had no choice but to go on... since you've gone missing."
This blue rendition of a sad song was directed by Ruben G (Novvva Films), with footage shot by him, Melissa Maiz (MG Castillito Films), and Carlos G. Davila (Reverie Workshop). Special thanks to Bladinieres (Elevador) for his musical direction, Constanza Treviño for her image consultancy, and Eugenia Rodriguez for her art advice.
El Tiger Sessions:
Located in the picturesque neighborhood of Tampiquito, El Tiger is a rehearsal space run by the sexy guys from the band Husky. Enter the El Tiger Sessions production team, a hard-working and good-looking bunch if ever I saw one, and the stage is set for something like this to occur.
Do check out the other El Tiger Sessions. There's new videos coming out all the time and some of the featured artists are truly amazing.
We did it! Your generosity has enabled me to make Missing (Live @ El Tiger Sessions) part of M and available to download! Read the celebration post here!
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the campaign to buy the rights for this recording!
